Wattenbarger _Bob _09-2013Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Robert Wattenbarger holder of the John E. & Deborah F. Bethancourt Professorship. The endowed professorship appointment was effective Nov. 1, 2013.

Wattenbarger is a professor in the Harold Vance Department of Petroleum Engineering. His research interests include gas reservoir engineering emphasizing production, analysis of tight gas reservoirs, paraffin deposition in wellbores and reservoirs, electromagnetic heating of reservoirs, and well test analysis and well performance.

He joined the Texas A&M engineering faculty in 1983.

Wattenbarger earned his Ph.D. in petroleum engineering from Stanford University, his master’s and bachelor’s degrees in petroleum engineering from the University of Tulsa.
