Dr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. William Schneider holder of the Zachry Professor of Engineering. The endowed professorship appointment was effective Jan. 1.
Schneider is a professor of engineering practice in the Department of Mechanical Engineering. He has been a visiting professor of mechanical engineering at Texas A&M for the past eight years.
He spent 38 years working for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), Johnson Space Center and also was a engineering consultant, Senior Vice President and part owner of an engineering consultant firm.
Schneider earned his PH.D. in mechanical engineering from Rice University, his master’s degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Houston, and his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Louisiana State University.
