Dr. Douglas Allaire joined the Department of Mechanical Engineering as Assistant Professor on January 1st, 2014.

Dr. Allaire received his Ph.D from the Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics at MIT in 2009. He holds B.S. and M.S. degrees from the same department, which he earned in 2004 and 2006 respectively. Before joining Texas A&M, Dr. Allaire worked as a Research Scientist, and a Postdoctoral Associate at the MIT Aerospace Computational Design Laboratory.

His current research focuses on the development of computational methods for the analysis, design, and operation of complex systems.  He is specifically interested in aspects of uncertainty quantification, multidisciplinary design optimization, and compositional methods for simulation-based design.  He is currently working on projects involving the development of computational methods for enabling self-aware unmanned aerial vehicles, the development of optimal algorithms for multi-information source management in design, and the development of methods for enabling correct-by-construction model-based design processes.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M is very proud of welcome Dr. Allaire to their team of highly accomplished faculty members.
