For The Battalion Online (1/22/2014), City Editor Jennifer Reiley interviewed NASA Astronaut Steven Swanson about his career and his third trip into space, scheduled for March 25.
Dr. Steven Swanson received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University in 1998. He was honored by the CSE department with the Distinguished Former Student Award in 2010 and is currently a member of the department's Advisory Board.
Dr. Swanson's voyage on the Russian Soyuz spacecraft will take him and his team to the International Space Station where they will participate in low gravity research experiments. Dr. Swanson will transition to commander of the Russian Federal Space Agency Expedition 40 in May before returning to Earth in September 2014.
