Si Gou wins Outstanding Paper Award

SiSi Gou, a doctoral student in civil engineering, won the Outstanding Paper Award at the Fall Meeting of the American Geophysical Union. Gou is part of the Miller Geoecohydrology Research Group that is led by Dr. Gretchen R. Miller, an assistant professor in the Zachry Department of Civil Engineering.

Gou’s paper, “A groundwater-soil-plant-atmosphere continuum approach for modelling water stress, uptake, and hydraulic redistribution in phreatophytic vegetation,” won in the Hydrology category.

The Outstanding Student Paper Awards (OSPA) are awarded to promote, recognize, and reward undergraduate, Master’s and Ph.D. students for quality research in the geophysical sciences. Typically the top 3-5 percent of presenters in each section/focus group are awarded an OSPA and all judged students are provided feedback.
