ISEN Students Place Third in National Competition

During the  Spring 2013 semester, Dr. Andy Johnson required students in his ISEN 605 (Material Handling) class to do a project or write a paper.

The project included entering the Material Handling Institute of America's (MHIA) design competition and designing a warehouse. The team of Abinaya Ulagappa, Shreyas Panambur, Cesar Solis, John Curlin placed third! They won a $1,000 prize they will share, and the department receives a $500 award.

Teams were required to have no more than two graduate students and no more than four total members. Johnson had the graduate students in his class partner with undergraduate students from ISEN 416 (Facilities Layout and Material Handling Systems) taught by Dr. Lewis Ntaimo in collaboration with ISEN Writing Center Director Jose Vazquez.

A total of 16 A&M teams completed the project, and the best design was submitted to the MHIA design competition.
