Professional Association for Industrial Distribution hosts Career Expo

Photo of PAID Career ExpoThe Professional Association for Industrial Distribution (PAID) hosted its sixth annual Career Expo Oct. 3 at the Memorial Student Center at Texas A&M University.

The Career Expo was preceded by Golf Tournament (a scramble-style tournament between industry representatives and industrial distribution students) and networking social Oct. 2.

PAID is the largest student-run organization at Texas A&M University with 500 members. PAID was formed in 1983 to serves as a link between industrial distribution students and industry. For more than 30 years, PAID has played a key role in providing internship and job opportunities for Industrial Distribution students. Industrial Distribution is only one of two majors on campus to host major specific recruitment fairs (the other major is Construction Science). PAID has been hosting Fall Career Fair for more than 18 years and due to industry demand has added the Spring Career Expo six years ago.

A total of 65 companies from around the United States attended the expo to recruit for full-time and internship positions. Several companies were on the waiting list and had to be turned down due to admission limitations. There were six platinum sponsors, four gold sponsors, 12 silver sponsors and 13 bronze sponsors. All of the sponsors pay between $2,500 to $5,600 and host other recruiting events throughout the year.

Speaking on the success of the Career Expo, Christian Pizzino, the PAID senior Career Expo officer, said, “Each company in attendance recognizes the value of industrial distribution students. We had a tremendous success this year, moving our Career Expo on campus to the MSC to make it more convenient and to expose our recruiters to the heart of Texas A&M University. We are looking forward to our Spring Career Fair in February and its success."

In addition to organizing Fall Career Expo and Spring Career Fair, PAID also hosts a golf tournament, power lunches, corporate spotlight, PAID banquet, intern-for-a-day and digital résumé collection. In the past few years, PAID has also raised funds for charitable causes with events such as 5K runs.
