September 2013 ASME Magazine Highlights Partha Mukherjee's Work in PEM

Photo of Dr. Partha MukherjeeThe September 2013 ASME magazine highlights Dr. Partha Mukherjee’s work in PEM (polymer electrolyte membrane) fuel cell electrodes in an article, “Cars without Combustion.”

The article features innovative technology that researchers hope will make fuel cell vehicles more efficient and cost effective, allowing them to compete with hybrid and electric systems in the realms of alternative automotive industry.

Mukherjee was invited to present his research at the 2011 ASME Fuel Cell and Energy Sustainability Conference. 

Mukherjee's research interests are in electrochemical energy storage and conversion (batteries and fuel cells); mesoscale physics and stochastics in functional materials and manufacturing; and physiochemical, reactive transport and materials interactions.

He earned a bachelor's degree from North Bengal University in India, a master's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology and a Ph.D. from the Pennsylvania State University, all in mechanical engineering.
