Daerrs honor parents with scholarship

Photo of Jason and Molly DaerrMolly and Jason Daerr ’99 have chosen to honor their parents by creating scholarships at their alma maters — Molly at Mississippi State University and Jason at Texas A&M University.

With the creation of the Karin and Richard L. Daerr ’66 Scholarship, one or more scholarships will be awarded each year to full-time students in good standing pursuing degrees in industrial distribution from the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M. Preference will be given to students from Jackson County, Texas.

Richard Daerr earned his industrial distribution degree in 1966. Jason followed in his dad’s footsteps and received his industrial distribution degree in 1999.

Jason said that he and Molly were looking for way to show their appreciation to their parents for all their support and help throughout their lives. The couple created the scholarships as gifts that will continue to give.

“This scholarship is something that my parents will be able to enjoy as they watch the endowment grow and provide assistance to students for many years to come,” Jason said. “It is our way of sharing the support of my parents with other Aggies.”

The scholarship will be funded through the Texas A&M Foundation with matching funds contributed from the ExxonMobil Foundation Educational Matching Gift Program.
