Johnson appointed Furber Faculty Fellow

Photo of Dr. Michael JohnsonDr. M. Katherine Banks, vice chancellor and dean of engineering, has appointed Dr. Michael Johnson the Corrie and Jim Furber '64 Faculty Fellow in the Dwight Look College of Engineering at Texas A&M University.

Johnson is an assistant professor in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution.

Johnson joined the Texas A&M Engineering faculty in 2007. He previously was senior product development engineer at the 3M Corporate Research Laboratory. He earned a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and an S.M. and a Ph.D. in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His areas of research interest are in cost modeling and analysis of product development and manufacturing systems; computer-aided design methodology; product development project management; and engineering education.

Johnson is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and a member of the Institute of Industrial Engineers, the American Society for Engineering Education and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. Johnson has received several teaching awards from his department, the Look College and The Texas A&M University System.
