Duong won for her poster, “Characterization of Micro-Mechanical Properties of Granular Materials via Experimental and Numerical Modeling.”

Duong is a member of the Stochastic Geomechanics Laboratory, directed by Dr. Zenon Medina-Cetina. Duong’s current research is in characterization of micro-parameters of particle media. The research vision of the lab is to improve the understanding of the mechanical behavior of geomaterials and their interaction with civil infrastructure, by the proper integration of risk as the mean to ensure sustainable development based on the characterization, construction, monitoring and retrofitting of safer, more economical and environmentally friendly geo-structures.
