Bracci appointed Wiley Professor

Bracci is a professor in the Construction, Geotechnical and Structural Division of the civil engineering department and assistant department head for operations.

Bracci joined the Dwight Look College of Engineering faculty in 1993 as an assistant professor. He was previously a lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at the State University of New York at Buffalo and a structural engineer at EQE International in San Francisco.

His research interests are in the areas of experimental testing; analytical modeling and performance-based design of reinforced concrete, composite steel-reinforced concrete and wood structures during extreme loads; high-performance materials and energy dissipating devices; and special additives for repair and rehabilitation of concrete.

A registered professional engineer in Texas, Bracci was elected a Fellow of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) in 2006 and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. In 1998, he received the CAREER Award from the National Science Foundation for his work in earthquake-resistant structures.

Bracci holds bachelor's, master's and Ph.D. degrees in civil engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
