Russell receives CIGRE Award

Photo of Dr. B.D. RussellDr. B. Don Russell, Distinguished Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has been awarded the 2011 Attwood Associate Award by U. S. National Committee of the International Council on Large Electric Systems (CIGRE).

The award was presented at the CIGRE annual meeting in Detroit. Russell was recognized for his outstanding technical and professional contributions to CIGRE including service as vice president of the USNC Technical Council and as member of the CIGRE International Administrative Council. Russell currently serves as vice president and administrator for the United States CIGRE Secretariat, which is headquartered at Texas A&M.

CIGRE is an international organization of more than 80 countries that promotes technical development in large electric power systems.

Russell is Regents Professor of the Texas A&M System and holds the Harry E. Bovay Endowed Chair of the Dwight Look College of Engineering. Russell is a former president of the IEEE Power and Energy Society and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
