Rothrock named nuclear engineering Distinguished Former Student

Ray A. Rothrock receives awardRay A. Rothrock '77 was named the first Distinguished Former Student of the Department of Nuclear Engineering at its annual banquet April 28.

Rothrock (left with Department Head Raymond Juzaitis) also delivered the keynote address as part of the department's Nuclear Technology and Society Invited Speakers Series in conjunction with the banquet at which awards and scholarships were given to faculty, staff and students.

Currently a managing partner at the venture capital firm, Venrock, Rothrock earned his bachelor's degree in nuclear engineering in 1977. He has served on the Board of Trustees of the Texas A&M Foundation, chairing the investment committee and as co-chair of the Arts and Science Theme Group for the university's Vision 2020. Additionally, he has made significant contributions to the university's student affairs, College of Liberal Arts and 12th Man Foundation. Rothrock's support has contributed to multiple endowed scholarships to the Department of Nuclear Engineering.
