Graduate student selected to attend meeting of Nobel Laureates

Brent Volk, a Ph.D. student in the Materials Science and Engineering Program at Texas A&M University, was recently selected to attend the 61st Meeting of Nobel Laureates in Lindau, Germany.

As one of 80 students representing the United States, Volk will have the opportunity to learn from and interact with about 25 Nobel Laureates in Physiology or Medicine. The meeting will take place June 26 through July 1, and will include approximately 550 young researchers representing more than 70 countries.

Volk was selected based on his academic and research performance. He was nominated through his participation in a grant supported by the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering at the National Institutes of Health. Volk was nominated by Dr. Duncan Maitland in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and is co-advised by Dr. Dimitris Lagoudas in the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
