The objectives of the mechanical engineering minors are to expand the working knowledge of mechanical engineering principles to broader engineering activities and to provide non-MEEN students with a specialized aspect of mechanical engineering to enhance their skill set and capabilities within their discipline-specific field.
Candidates for a mechanical engineering minor must be high-achieving in their own discipline, with a minimum GPA of 3.5. Students may apply for the minor as early as their fourth semester of college but before their seventh semester of college. Students are responsible for the satisfying course pre-requisites (C or better) which may or may not apply toward the minor or the student's major degree(s).
Program Requirements
Analysis, Design & Management of Energy Conservation Systems
Design and Simulation of Mechanical Systems
Control of Mechanical Systems
MEEN minor applications must be approved and signed by a mechanical engineering academic advisor, then submitted to your major academic advisor. To be approved, you must meet eligibility requirements as stated in the application and have all completed courses filled in with semester taken and grade received, as well as an action plan for when the remainder of the courses will be taken. For more information on any of the mechanical engineering minors, please contact a mechanical engineering advisor.
