Financial Assistance

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO GRADUATE APPLICANTS ABOUT FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OFFERS

It is important for graduate applicants to know that Texas A&M University is a member of the Council of Graduate Schools.

When the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University or its faculty offers a graduate applicant, who has been accepted for summer or fall admission, financial assistance in the form of a fellowship, a research assistantship, a teaching assistantship, or a scholarship, we set an April 15 deadline, not earlier, for the applicant to make a decision to accept or decline the offer.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and its faculty will not offer financial assistance in any form to a graduate applicant who has accepted a financial assistance offer to attend another U.S. school.

If we offer financial assistance to a graduate applicant and learn afterward that the applicant has accepted a financial assistance offer from another U.S. school, we would immediately withdraw our financial assistance offer. We would not do anything to encourage the applicant to obtain a written release from his/her agreement with the other school so that he/she may attend Texas A&M University.

If we offer financial assistance (in the form of a research assistantship, a teaching assistantship, a fellowship, or a scholarship) to a graduate applicant and he/she accepts the offer to attend Texas A&M University by returning a signed offer letter to us, he/she is bound by the financial assistance agreement and may not accept any financial assistance offer to attend another U.S. school.
