Michael Burnett

Michael Burnett

Michael Burnett is a Validation Engineer in the Analog organization at Texas Instruments (TI). He earned his Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Wyoming. He joined TI in 2008, and during his time at TI he has experience working with System on Chip devices (SoC) for wireless medical applications, micro-controllers for high reliability and down-hole drilling applications, and power management ICs for computing and automotive applications. During his tenure at TI he has developed a strong validation methodology that has been shared as a best practice across the company.

Douglas Carraway

Douglas Caraway

Since graduating A&M, in 1982, Douglas Carraway has worked primarily in the oil and gas industry. Most of this time has been spent working with synthetic diamond and roller cone drill bits in a variety of roles including product design and application, manufacturing and management. For the last ten years, his primary focus has been intellectual property management, using experience from other areas to manage the patent portfolio and working with inventors to capture their inventions and turn them into patents.  He is an inventor on 21 inventions related to drill bits and the author of two technical papers.

Nick Dorrance

Nick & Kacey Dorrance

Nick Dorrance's current role is the Engineering Lead for the Transport and WAN Practice at Netsync. He is responsible for executing projects that work in the Optical Transport space, as well as acting as the Subject Matter Expert for fiber optic links. He is also working to educate the Engineers and Technicians at Netsync to increase his company’s literacy in Optical Transport and Fiber.

Dave Irek

Dave Irek

Dave is a seasoned veteran of the communications and networking industry with over 28 years of business development, sales management and engineering experience. Dave has joined Netsync Network Solutions as the Practice Manager for the Transport and WAN Practice and among driving the strategy for the practice, will be focused on new market and business development.   Dave most recently was the Owner and Lead Consultant for Connected Consulting Group, LLC, based in Rockwall, Texas where he has been running the consulting business since 2011 working with both National and Global Network Integration organizations like Dimension Data, an NTT Company and Infinera and Optical OEM.  

Formerly Dave was Senior Business Development Manager for Emerging Markets with Cisco Systems, Regional Sales Manager for Cerent Corporation, a private start up which was acquired by Cisco Systems in 1999, Sales Manager at Ciena Corporation and Engineering Manager at Fujitsu Network Communications.

Dave’s experience spans the Service Provider, Public Sector, Enterprise and Commercial markets Worldwide.

Business achievements include the following:

  • Led engineering efforts for product certification into Fujitsu’s largest client opportunity eventually generating $1.5B in revenue.
  • Developed multiple multi-million dollar accounts for Ciena Corporation in the Northwest US managing annual revenue in excess of $90M.
  • Developed and managed four of the largest strategic accounts for Cerent Corporation: Alltel, Century Telephone, Citizens Communications, and Cincinnati Bell driving increased valuation for acquisition by Cisco Systems.
  • Built nationwide sales engineering organization to support new optical business for Cisco Systems.
  • Developed US Enterprise Optical Sales strategy growing the annual revenue to $250 Million.
  • Key leader of the Emerging Markets organization for Cisco Systems driving the Core IPNGN business within the Middle East and African markets representing $1.2B in annual revenue.
  • Developed an Optical Business for a US Based National Systems Integrator that grew the business from zero to $10 Million+ in 12 Months.
  • Consulted for a Global Systems Integrator that realized a 7:1 Return on Investment for the client.

Mr. Irek holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with specialization in Telecommunications Engineering from Texas A&M University in College Station, TX.

Marc Marini

Marc Marini

Marc Marini has worked on the leading edge of engineering innovation for more than 25 years. He has served in multiple capacities within the industry, from research and development laboratories to the front lines of sales leadership.

In 1998, Marini joined National Instruments, a global leader in providing hardware and software solutions for engineering, as a Business Development Manager for the automated test industry. During his tenure in sales, Marc served as a primary resource for the development of production test and NI TestStand automated test software. Marini was soon promoted to the Director of Business Development, where he successfully started the European business development organization for National Instruments.

Marini transitioned to the National Instruments research and development organization in 2003 and became responsible for the NI IMAQ vision, motion control, and switch product lines. Marc also served on the Board of Directors for the Automated Imaging Association in 2005. And from 2006 through 2009, Marini managed the post-acquisition integration of two companies and merged them into a single subsidiary. From 2009 through 2013 Marini managed the Engineering Support Services group, which is responsible for world-wide test engineering, metrology, and regulatory compliance.

Marini currently manages product area supporting smart machine control, smart grid, test cell, and HIL applications. Marc is again a member of the Automated Imaging Association board and serves as chair.

Prior to joining National Instruments, Marini held positions with other prominent companies, including DSC Communications, GenRad, and Motorola. Marc Marini earned his degree in B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Texas A&M University in 1987. 

Vice Admiral Charles L. Munns, US Navy (retired)

Chuck Munns

Chuck Munns is a special advisory to the Secretary of Defense, working on US Strategic Command’s Strategic Advisory Board.  They solve questions of strategic deterrence, military cyber operations, US space operations, and Presidential communications. He is also serving as a Commissioner on the SC Commission for Higher Education.  The Commission promotes quality and efficiency in state higher education across 33 Universities and Colleges with the goal of fostering economic growth and human development. Admiral Munns moved to Aiken SC in 2007 and served as president and chief executive officer of Savannah River Nuclear Solutions, LLC (SRNS) through 2009. In this position, he won a DOE contract to manage and operate the DOE owned Savannah River Site.  They provide energy security, national security and environmental management, and also operate the Savannah River National Laboratory. Prior to forming SRNS, Admiral Munns served for 34 years in the U.S. Navy’s most high-profile and challenging positions, attaining the rank of Vice Admiral. His most recent Navy position was commander of the U.S. Submarine Force, which included all U.S. submarines worldwide. He is a graduate of the United States Naval Academy -- Bachelor of Science, Physics, and the University of Colorado -- Master of Science, Computer Science.  

Pierce Primm

Pierce Primm

Texas A&M University BS-EET class of '90 graduate, Pierce Primm began his career in specialized test, measurement and control system for materials properties testing environments in Houston, TX. Then, he gained experience in automation and control systems for Turbine Co-Gen and multi-axis hydraulic test machines while working in Houston and countries around the world including China, Israel and Russia. He became an independent consultant in 2001 for test machines, control systems and precision measurement/data collection with a heavy emphasis on software development. Pierce now maintains several control system installations, works in residential home automation and is active in the Houston tech community with programming, Maker and IoT groups.

Ronnie Villarreal

Ronnie Villarreal

Ronnie Villarreal is the Americas Engineering Director working for Honeywell Process Solutions in their Projects & Automation Services business. He has worked for Honeywell International for 27 years. He spent his first two years as a Control Systems Estimator, and then moved into to the Project Operations Organization. He worked six years in the project engineering group and was a lead engineer for the Shell Martinez Clean Fuels Program. For the next two years he worked specifically for the Shell and ExxonMobil PMX Programs as the Engineering Manager responsible for engineering resource on these program projects. During this period, he also provided technical consultative support on DCS hardware, software applications, and project execution procedures. For over 15 years, Ronnie has led the engineering discipline organization across the Americas. He holds a B.S. degree in Engineering Technology 1988, Electronic specialty, from Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.
