Department Goals

I. Become a Leader in Innovative Learning Models.

  1. Strategies:

    1. Partner with industry and government to leverage the continuous development of current, relevant curricula and educational laboratories.
      • Semiconductor testing
      • Supply chain information technology and industrial automation
      • On-line distance education Master of Industrial Distribution program
      • Semiconductor manufacturing
    2. Enhance current partnerships and develop new opportunities with other TAMU colleges to develop and deliver interdisciplinary learning programs.

    3. Secure funding from federal and state organizations for research in education and learning.
      • Web-enabled learning environments and curricula
      • Globalizing engineering and technology education.

    4. Provide the college and university with service courses.
    5. Disseminate results of curriculum, laboratory and learning models by providing the educational community with results of our innovative learning model developments through educational papers and conferences and web-based technologies.

II. Achieve Global Recognition for Applied Research and Technology Development.

  1. Strategies:

    1. Increase the number and amount of funded research projects in all areas of the department.
    2. Create a Center for Advanced Semiconductor Testing.
    3. Disseminate the results of applied research and technology development.
    4. Deliver globally acclaimed professional development programs to industry practitioners, managers and executives.

III. Become the COE Technology Enabler for Interdisciplinary Research and Development.

  1. Strategies:

    1. Develop interdisciplinary projects with other departments in the COE.
    2. Lead the college in the testing and verification of homeland security technology.

IV. Achieve National Prominence in Graduate Education.

  1. Strategies:

    1. Enhance and grow the existing high quality on-line MID program.
    2. Expand the MID program to include on campus students.
    3. Create and deliver a graduate program in interdisciplinary technology.
