Undergraduate Admissions

Admission Guidelines

  • Evaluation for admission into the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering is handled differently for each category, as described below.
  • Students who have ever been assigned a sanction due to academic or behavioral misconduct at any institution of higher education will not be admitted into the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering.
  • Students classified as "Readmit" or "Post-Baccalaureate" for admissions will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.  Decisions will be made generally following criteria similar to those for students transferring from institutions outside TAMU.

Incoming Freshman Students

The admission process for incoming freshmen students is handled by the University's Office of Admissions and Records (OAR). Prospective incoming freshmen will apply for admission into the College of Engineering and enter as a General Engineering major. Students may then apply for entry into our major between their second and fourth semester.

Please see our How to Apply checklist for step by step guidance on the admission process.
