As a major department with an enrollment of about 900 undergraduate and 730 graduate students pursuing degrees in electrical and computer engineering, our mission is threefold:
- To create new knowledge and challenge young minds by participation in the process of discovery and invention;
- to educate electrical and computer engineers with a solid background of fundamentals, stretching their imagination and preparing them for an exciting future;
- and to serve the society through research, education and outreach activities.
With a high-quality student body and outstanding faculty, the department is poised to achieve its mission of excellence in all three areas.
Currently we have more than 70 tenured/tenure track faculty teaching in such diverse research areas as analog and mixed signal; biomedical imaging; sensing and genomic signal processing; computer engineering and systems; device science and nanotechnology; electromagnetics and microwaves; electric power systems and power electronics and information science and systems.
