Professor of Practice

The Professor of Practice Program was established by the College of Engineering at Texas A&M as part of its 25 by 25 Initiative to grow to 25,000 students (undergraduate and graduate students) by 2025 - controlled growth with excellence. The program brings industry leaders to the classroom to help prepare the next generation of engineers by sharing their real-world experiences in industry.  

Their roles across campus include:

Teaching 

    • Classroom instruction at all levels - undergraduate, masters and doctorate levels
    • Development of new teaching curriculum reflecting cutting-edge industry technology and new educational practices

Research

    • Research advisor and principle investigator for research grants
    • Industry liaisons to identify research topics and research support
    • Publish in professional journals and conferences

Service

    • Professional society officers and members
    • Student mentors and curriculum advisors
    • Faculty advisors to student professional organizations
