NSF I-Corps Site


The College of Engineering at Texas A&M University has been awarded a National Science Foundation Innovation Corps (I-Corps) Site grant. The award will support the establishment of the TAMU iSite with focus to identify and support student teams with highly innovative ideas as they pursue these ideas to commercialization. Overall, this award will support the efforts of the College of Engineering in promoting entrepreneurship among engineering students and strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem.


The program will be offered three times per year (fall/spring/summer) with ten teams per cohort.

Applications open November 13, 2017 and close January 14, 2018 for the spring 2018 cohort. Cohort meetings are every Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. February 5 through March 26.

The Summer 2018 application period will be March 19, 2018 through May 27, 2018. Cohort meetings will be every Tuesday and Thursday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. from July 3 through August 9.

Benefits to Participants:

    • Learn the fundamentals of Business Model Canvas and Lean Launch for launching successful products
    • Practice these skills by immersing in customer discovery and completing 30 face to face interviews with potential customers
    • Discover the market potential, competitive landscape and move the idea towards commercialization
    • Collaborate with industry mentors
    • Develop skills for an entrepreneurial mindset
    • Receive $2,500 in travel funds to complete customer interviews

Who is Eligible?

    • Undergraduate and graduate engineering students pursuing ideas of their own
    • Undergraduate and graduate students pursuing technologies developed by engineering faculty
    • While the program is targeting engineering students, students from other majors may participate by collaborating with engineering students

How Do I Apply?

Teams interested to participate in iSite are required to submit a short application here and will be evaluated on the following criteria:

    • Strength of intellectual property/maturity of technology
    • Team composition and commitment
    • Potential for commercialization
