Curriculum Vitae

Research Interests

Dr. Michael R. Moreno is assistant professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University and a Fellow of the Michael E. DeBakey Institute for Comparative Cardiovascular Science and Biomedical Devices. His research focuses on the role of biomechanics in the development of pathologies, therapeutic interventions and medical technologies.

Dr. Moreno directs the Biomechanical Environments Laboratory where research is focused on the effects of solid and/or fluid mechanical factors in the development of cardiovascular disease, implantable orthopedic devices, traumatic brain injury, regenerative therapies, and biodegradable technologies. Researchers in the Biomechanical Environments Laboratory specialize in reconstructing physiologically relevant mechanical environments for in vitro studies of cells, tissues, organs and medical devices, to ensure critical mechanical cues that drive physiologic processes are maintained.

Dr. Moreno enjoys ongoing research collaborations with Methodist Research Hospital, the Institute for Regenerative Medicine, the Texas Institute for Pre-Clinical Studies, the College of Veterinary Medicine, and numerous medical device companies.
