The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) lists biomedical engineering as one of the fastest-growing occupations in the United States for the decade ending in 2018. The BLS estimates that the profession will grow by 72 percent between 2008 and 2018, significantly more than other engineering subspecialties. In addition, salaries for biomedical engineers are among the top five of the 20 fastest-growing occupations. Graduates with a bachelor of science degree can expect to earn a median wage of $77,400, and those with a master's degree are expected to earn salaries of more than $90,000.
