James L. Rand

Dr. James L. Rand is an outstanding educator and teacher, serving as professor at Texas A&M University from 1968-1979.  Dr. Rand is a pre-eminent researcher in the field of think film structures and balloon technology.  He is the principal developer of the strain transducer, used to measure strain in high altitude scientific research balloon skin and other thin film materials. He most recently served as President of Winzen Engineering from 1988 to 2011.  Dr. Rand currently serves on the Aerospace Advisory Board.
